This is your Legislative Update for the week of May 19th.

The Ohio Senate passed Substitute House Bill 289, sponsored by Representative Schuring, which makes various changes to the law governing joint economic development zones.

Amended Substitute House Bill 483 passed this week. Sponsored by Representative Amstutz, this bill makes operating and other appropriations and provides authorization and conditions for the operation of state programs.

Amended Substitute House Bill 487 was also passed, sponsored by Representative Brenner. This bill modifies various laws related to primary and secondary education.

In the Ohio House of Representatives,

House Bill 440, sponsored by Representative Brown, passed this week, designating a portion of State Route 65 in Wood County as the "Staff Sergeant Bradley C. Hart Memorial Roadway."

Amended Substitute House Bill 533, sponsored by Representatives McGregor and Mallory, was passed. This bill is relative to the use of tolling on transportation facilities.

Also passed, Amended House Bill 491, sponsored by Representatives Buchy and Blessing, This bill makes various changes to the gambling, lottery, and casino laws.

Substitute House Bill 198, sponsored by Representatives Butler and Burkley, also passed and permits some property owners, under specific conditions, to exclude their parcels from a proposed tax increment financing incentive district.

Amended Substitute Senate Bill 192, sponsored by Senator Manning, granting the Director of Agriculture exclusive authority to regulate invasive plant species, passed as well.
