ideas - Violins of Hope September 25, 2015

On this special edition of Ideas, we discover the stories behind the violins played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. Those instruments have been lovingly restored by the Israeli master violin maker Amnon Weinstein, who travels the world, bringing the violins to new audiences. The violins and their stories help teach the history of the Holocaust, and provoke discussion and reflection within all segments of the community about the critical lessons we can learn from it. This weekend, the Violins of Hope are in Cleveland as the opening event in the new Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at the Temple-Tifereth Israel.

Guests:

Lisa Lefstein-Berusch, Facing History And Ourselves
