Segment 1:The vast majority of us want to be independent and live in our own homes on our own terms as we age, but no one is truly independent of others. In fact, as we age we may find our mobility impaired, our eyesight failing and our hearing diminished, and we fear becoming a burden to our loved ones. Michael Rench, the Administrator of the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, joins the show to explain why becoming more interdependent does not mean becoming less independent.
Segment 2: Advances in medical care have given us the opportunity to see our children with disabilities reach adulthood when many feared they wouldn't. Seniors today find themselves facing the prospect that their adult children with disabilities may well outlive them, which makes it important to plan for their long-term care.
