SEGMENT 1: Statewide, there were 15,676 reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation for individuals age 60+ from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. Only 16% of the abusive situations are referred for help. The Senate Special Committee on Aging estimates that there may be as many as 5 million victims of elder abuse every year. Ramona Williams shares her story of being a victim of financial exploitation. Dave Kessler, and expert on elder abuse, shares information on how to recognize, prevent and get help with elder abuse.
