Finer With Age - Prescription Drugs, Social Security, & Home Energy Assistance

Segment 1: Openly discussing our prescription drug use and needs with not only our health care providers and pharmacists, but also our families, can greatly reduce the risk of misuse and complications. Dr. Traci Watkins, a gerontologist with the ProMedica Physician Group in Toledo, and Bryan Coehrs, a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Counter in Toledo, join the show to discuss how better communication about prescriptions leads to better health.

Segment 2: This segment of Finer with Age covers some of the basics of Social Security and provides you with the resources to answer any additional questions you may have. John LaMotte, the staff assistant for the Social Security bureau located in Columbus, elaborates on this important topic.

Segment 3: The Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP, is a federally funded program administered by the Ohio Department of Development that helps eligible low-income Ohioans meet the high costs of home heating. In this segment, Janet Cesnar, from the Office of Community Services which administers the HEAP Program here in Ohio, explains how you can find out if you qualify.
