Finer With Age - Older Workers

SEGMENT 1:
Americans aged 55 or older are a dedicated and experienced core of our workforce. Their contributions to the nation as paid workers and volunteers are immeasurable. However, as more Baby Boomers retire, there will be a decline in the workforce, especially for experienced and well-trained workers. Companies are finding themselves at a crossroads; they will not only lose employees, but also institutional knowledge. Some companies are already making strides to retain and even hire new mature workers.

Five years ago Jim Wing found himself faced with the decision to retire or look for a new job. After careful consideration, Jim returned to his first career as a pharmacist and now works for CVS Caremark. Jim participates in their Snowbird Program, allowing him to work nine months at a store in Cincinnati and three months in Ft Meyers, Florida. Snow birding lets employees transfer to a different CVS pharmacy location on a seasonal basis to manage the swell of business in warm climate stores during the winter months.

SEGMENT 2:
Winter is officially upon us. While the snow may be piling up, your energy bills don't have to! Finer With Age visited Ed Thomas' home with Pam Learman and Wilson Gonzales, weatherization specialists from the Ohio Consumers' Counsel, the residential utility consumer advocate. Pam and Wilson demonstrate some easy things you can do to make your home more energy efficient and start saving on those high utility bills.
