There's general agreement that nobody eats, sleeps, and breathes Toledo Public Schools like its young superintendent, Romules Durant. Perhaps no one ever had. He has worked tirelessly to inspire and mentor students and be a presence in the community. Despite that, last fall, Toledo Public Schools still scored an F on State of Ohio Report Cards. Graduation rates have improved and the state agreed the district is making progress, but when it came to achievement, the schools were still an F. The question some are asking is - can Toledo Schools ever truly succeed? If so, what will it take to get them there? If not, what does that mean for the future of education in Toledo.
