The Ohio Statehouse is home to an impressive art collection belonging to the people of Ohio. Depicting the hopes, dreams and values of Ohioans, the collection commemorates our great state's accomplishments and struggles. Among the collection are portraits of notable leaders, including every Governor of Ohio.

Join portrait artist Leslie Adams on a tour of the Ohio Statehouse Governor Portrait Collection as she highlights the history of portraiture as well as the creative process and techniques involved. Leslie shares her experiences as the artist for six official portraits hanging in the Statehouse, including Governor Bob Taft, Governor Ted Strickland, and Senate President Tom Niehaus.

Leslie Adams' intention in portraiture is to create enduring works that are grounded in historical aesthetics and contemporary theory. Through both inspiration and technique, Adams creates works that invoke timeless realities in which past and present simultaneously exist- works that transcends portraiture alone. Beyond purely capturing the likeness of the individual, the paintings of Leslie Adams possess truth. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Toledo, Leslie Adams received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious New York Academy of Art. Ms. Adams' work has been exhibited internationally and is included in numerous public and private collections.
