Applause - The Standing Rock Film Festival

We'll share a story about a group who scored big by landing roles in the opening ceremonies of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, coming to Cleveland January 18th at Quicken Loans Arena. For ticket information, call 216-622-6000 or visit their site.

The Standing Rock Film Festival began six years ago in Kent as a celebration of independent films. Today the event is an international affair with movies from around the world. At the helm since the beginning is the Executive Director of Standing Rock Cultural Arts, Jeff Ingram, and joining him is one of the festival organizers Cindy Penter.

Violinist Joel Smirnoff has honed his chops well enough to play with one of the country's most respected string quartets - the Juilliard - for more than two decades. These days, Joel is watching over a whole campus full of potential champions in his role as President of the Cleveland Institute of Music, and he joins host Dee Perry for an interview.

Like great music, great art takes time, skill and sometimes great patience. Just imagine making a 20-by-25-foot mosaic out of tiles no bigger than your fingernail. That's exactly what Dollar Bank had commissioned for their new headquarters in downtown Cleveland of their company logo.
