All Sides with Ann Fisher - 3-20-2023 A - Reporter Roundtable

Play

Abortion rights opponents have launched a pre-emptive $5 million ad campaign in Ohio against a proposed state constitutional amendment that would halt any ban on abortion until fetal viability.

Meanwhile, abortion rights proponents are just getting their signature collection campaign up and running for the November ballot.

The Ohio Supreme Court will consider two questions about the current ban, which is now on hold by another court's order, but not the larger question of whether the state constitution establishes a right to abortion.

The abortion rights playing field is getting crowded.

A new Senate bill would prohibit professors at universities and colleges from striking and change how faculty are hired, evaluated and ultimately fired. That's just one piece of the sweeping, controversial bill sponsored by Republican Senator Jerry Cirino of Kirkland.

The cost of an Ohio bill that would give public vouchers for children in private schools is at issue. The so-called "Backpack Bill" would allow K-12 students to attend private school using a publicly-funded stipend of up to $7500. The non-partisan Legislative Service Commission reports that would cost Ohio taxpayers about 1$ billion a year. What's the beef with that?

We discuss all these issues during our weekly Reporter Roundtable.
