All Sides with Ann Fisher - 10:00 AM - Julius Caesar: Shakespeare's African Play/Central Ohio Folk Fest

Play

Verona, Padua, Elsinore...Dakar. Shakespeare's plays were originally set all over Europe, and a new production by the Royal Shakespeare Company is moving south with the Bard. This hour, we'll talk with members of the cast about an African adaptation of Julius Caesar playing in Columbus. We'll find out why the play is so suited for a sub-Saharan setting, and how a favorite quote of Nelson Mandela inspired the production.

Guests:

Greg Doran, Director of Julius Caesar, Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company
Lupenga Mphande, Professor of African Studies at OSU
Adjoa Andoh, actress with the RSC, cast as Portia, the wife of Brutus
