Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame

The Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame honors older Ohioans for their personal achievements and contributions to others; for the roles they play in their communities, state and nation; and for what they do to promote productive and enjoyable lives beyond retirement.

The Elder Caregiver Awards symbolically honors the thousands of Ohio caregivers who lovingly take care of family and friends day after day. More than 7 million Americans help older adults live in the community, despite limitations on their own daily activities. In addition to adult children caring for their aging parents, aging parents care for their adult children with disabilities. Each year, Ohio caregivers contribute more than one million hours of unpaid help to others. The value of this cumulative care exceeds $10.4 billion in Ohio alone. Nationally, the value of care is $257 billion. Family members and other informal caregivers truly are the backbone of our long-term care system. This ceremony recognizes the value of their commitment and honors them for the work they do to make Ohio a better place for families.
